Can I join if I’m already in another fraternity or sorority?
It depends. Kappa Alpha Pi welcomes members who are already part of Greek fraternities or sororities. As a professional fraternity, our focus is on fostering a community dedicated to law, government, and public service, and we encourage involvement in other organizations.
However, due to the nature of professional fraternities, without expressed permission from an executive member of KAPi, we do not allow overlap with other professional fraternities, such as Alpha Kappa Psi, Delta Sigma Pi, and Theta Tau.
If you are currently a member of Phi Alpha Delta, Women-In-Government, or the Pre-Law Society, we urge you to apply, however the the expectation for new members will not be changed to accommodate the overlap.
I am not on a traditional pre-law or pre-government path, should I still apply?
Absolutely. Kappa Alpha Pi values diverse perspectives and welcomes members from a variety of academic and professional interests. Whether you’re exploring nontraditional uses for a law degree or have a passion for leadership, justice, or governance, KAPi provides resources and a supportive community to help you achieve your goals.
I am not a first-year Vanderbilt student, can I still apply?
Yes. We strongly encourage non-first-year students to apply, including those who are reapplying. Many of our members joined after their first year at Vanderbilt, and we also welcome transfer students who bring unique experiences and perspectives to our fraternity.
Does KAPi haze its potential new members?
No, Kappa Alpha Pi strictly prohibits hazing in any form. Anti-hazing principles are deeply embedded in our organization’s values and policies to ensure a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for all members. Our new member process focuses on education, professional development, and fostering genuine connections within the fraternity.
